This personal project was completed in 2016. The inspiration was brought on by interest in experimenting with watercolour, gauche and pen, all the while playing with a mix of paper sizes. This project ultimately lead to the realization that I loved the concept of visible paper edges on a finished piece. The random sizing of the paper is also seen in my work on papyrus, where every sheet is organic and unique.

The main inspiration for this piece was to blend my love of fish and birds together on the unique canvas of a bird house. I am always very intrigued by the similar patterns of fish scales and bird feathers. This was a way for me to combine the two together and create the first of many “Flying Koi” Series.

The Bird House Project was created and completed in 2015. The piece was a part of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s Art Rental and Sales Program, and was also featured and sold in the Massey Gallery that year.

This invitation design was a wedding gift for my dear friends Alannah and Aaron in 2016. It was treated as a purely commission based project, where I built off the taste of the bride, while combining some floral creativity to make this a truly unforgettable wedding invitation.
